Diaper type: there are three types of diapers in the market – disposable, reusable, and suspender diapers. You decide whether you want to dispose of it after each use or machine wash it, either way, your budget matters in this decision.

What are dog diapers for?

They are mainly to stop your dog from messing with your house. However, the size and make of diaper will depend on the breed of dog and what it will be used for. If the dog is an elderly dog with more than just urinary and fecal incontinence then a diaper with overall coverage will be just fine. Dogs are known to remove the diaper because it inconveniences them, if you have a dog like that then a diaper with suspenders will do for your best friend.

If your dog is incontinent, please take the dog to see a veterinary doctor before taking the decision to use a dog diaper for it. Most incontinent cases are treatable, however, if you are potty training or don’t have want a messy home then dog diapers are the best way to go.

I watch dogs on a daily basis. I do have one gal that brings doggie diapers with her for her dog. They are the washable kind, and work well. My question is this. I have a rescue dog that I just cannot seem to train, and keep him from going inside. If he is not right with me, then he will do his business where he shouldn’t. It gets frustrating, because I hate to always have to keep an eye on him. Will doggie diapers also help train him? I would sure love it if they did!

Most people tend to get their dogs fixed prematurely, stunting their growth, but talk to any professional breeder and they recommend your do go through her first heat before getting spayed. As such, anyone getting a female puppy should prepare for the first heat (which is nothing really so don’t freak out) and these doggie diapers are a MUST. Sure, it’s a bit awkward to get on at first (and keep on – depending on the dog!), but you’re bang with this post and decent measurements will go a long way in making this a success. Thanks for sharing!

I had no idea we could have just purchased doggie diapers to help control it. I will be sharing this post with my pooch lover friends! Thanks for the review and the tips.

I have a big dog – a labrador. We have never thought of putting her in a diaper because she is such an outdoor dog, when it comes to doing her business. She just needs some grass under her feet before she can go, so we usually carry papers or plastic bags to clear up after her. But thanks for the great information in your article, as there may come a day when we have to use it.
